Welcome to Helen's Home

Rose Cottage is based in Gweek, a name derived from the Cornish word 'gwig' meaning 'Forest Village'. The cottage is just a stones-throw from the river which is otherwise known as the head of Helford River.

Helen's home is a wide stone-walled white cottage situated amongst plenty of other characterful cottages.

Recently renovated, Helen and her husband have poured their heart into making their house a home, with carefully selected interiors to transform their space into one which encourages their wellbeing, peacefulness and tranquility.

Making storage stylish

A place to store your clothes can be a feature to your bedroom, in both its style, choice of colour and storage availability.

Working with your home, not against it

With Rose Cottage being 200 years old, Helen Grundy-Smith wanted to make such characteristic features shine.

Layering blinds for a cosy effect

Blinds are not just a way to add privacy to your everyday, but work to compliment how you want to feel each day; immersed in your own home, relaxed, awake and protected.

Creating a sanctuary to slumber in

With sleep being one of the most important aspects of our health and wellbeing, it could be said that our bedroom is an integral space to spend time and effort on to allow us to truly sink into a peaceful sleep each and every night.

An inviting entrance

Curating a room to both prepare for the day ahead and leave the day behind you is a key part of making your home practical. With consideration in such a space, you can invite comfort and sensible space solutions to leave and enter your home.

Don't be afraid to use props

Crockery and glassware are often hidden away behind kitchen cabinets, but Helen likes to incorporate these into her space to add character and the ease of ability to host in her home.

A kitchen of cottage dreams

Helen's careful consideration of tiling, brassware and quirky additions to her kitchen act to enhance on Rose Cottage's charm.

A space to create, host and nourish

Not being afraid to have a 'lived in' kitchen, the space includes Helen's favourite everyday items to use with ease. It's a space where Helen winds down from the day to create, nourish and host.

Using soft furnishings to add softness to Rose Cottage

With inherently thick stone walls, cottages can need a bit more love and softness to really make them shine. Helen has incorporated a mix of textures throughout her home to add a great sense of comfort to her home.
